Happy Deepavali

 Andrew's school celebrated Deepavali this week and all the young kids dressed in Indian costumes.  Helen got this white punjabi suit for Andrew.  They had a parade and did an Indian dance.

 Here is Andrew with two of his friends--Kokoro and Veda.

The girls posed for pictures.  They were just too cute.

This is Elin, Andrew's neighbor friend who comes over to play occasionally.

The performance they did for us was in the outdoor courtyard/amphitheater at the school.

The student have been practicing a choreographed dance, led by Ms. Tai (another teacher).

Andrew was scared of the loud music and ended up on my lap sitting next to Joseph for the rest of the performance.

I had to bribe them to get them to hold hands and stand still for the picture.

Class photo.  As you can see, Andrew has friends from Japan, Holland, Australia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Ghana.  And his teacher is Scottish!

And lastly, we walked back to class, and before I said goodbye Andrew asked me to put on this hat.  He would make a fine Indian construction worker.

My attempt at passport photos

So I have to turn in a passport size photo for each of the boys.  But really do I want to drag them both down to the photo shop--no way.  So I attempted to take them myself.  Are they hilarious or what.  Both Mike and I were dying laughing.  Mike especially couldn't stop laughing at Andrew's photo.

Side note, the stripe shirt here in the picture is Joseph's new favorite shirt.  I think he has worn this for two days now.  After the bath he noticed Mike put his shirt in the dirty clothes pile, and was crying to be able to wear it again for PJs.  He even pulled it out of the pile and was hugging it walking around naked.  It was funny.  But he did not win out.  Instead we let him wear Andrew's big dinosaur PJs.  We had to roll up the sleeves and everything.  I will have to take another photo.

Pool time

As always, we went to the pool on Sat.  It was actually my birthday and I love playing with the boys in the pool.  So after they let me sleep in and made me breakfast in bed (coconut flour pancakes with strawberries--thanks my three boys) we went down to the pool.  I thought I would take some pics to capture for you their favorite pool games.

Sushi with the boys

 For my birthday we went to sushi with the boys.  It was a great place to go as they were mesmerized by the floating sushi plates.  We even let J pick his own.  And he ate it all!  We were so proud.

 Now coming up is showcasing Andrew's photography skills.  The boys are really interested in the camera now. 

 Now brother time...doing "criss cross applesauce" in the box in our room.

 Now it's Joseph's turn for taking pics with the camera.  He was so proud.

Happy Halloween

We celebrated Halloween at Andrew's school.


They had a big carnival and it was so much fun. We were not sure how well they would do since it started at their bedtime, but they were great. When we arrived to the music blasting gangnam style, Andrew just about leapt out of the stroller and danced like I've never seen before. It was hilarious. Joseph just looked a little like deer in the headlights the whole time. He just looked around and wasn't sure what to make of it all...the crazy kids running around in strange costumes...the loud music...the fact that he was dressed like spiderman with webs between his arm pits!



Then after letting Andrew dance a few songs, including but not limited to "what makes you beautiful," we tore them him away from the dance floor, and followed the trick or treat carnival trail to all sorts of game booths. Then we stopped for water and some pictures. The above picture is what happened when I said "give a hug!"




Then I said, "no, hug EACH OTHER"!
You can see at least Andrew listened.




Thanks Grammianne for the awesome costumes for the boys. You can tell in this picture we had just stopped at the drinking fountain, hence the wet shirt and faces. They are in the stage where they just think the drinking fountain is the best invention ever and will just stand there playing and drinking regardless of whether there is a queue behind them...eventually they have to be dragged away from it...
