Surprise visit to the US

On the train to go to the airport!
Joseph (now 22 mos) and I took a quick surprise trip to the US...
On the airplane for the first of two flights to get to LAX, here we are on our way to Japan

Joseph loved the seatbelt!  Just like a big kid

Grandpa Steve and Grandma Marion picked us up from LAX and drove us to Irvine so we could surprise my mom

Surprise!  I sent Joseph through the door first to really shock my mom

My mom couldn't believe it was really us

My mom was really excited to see us.  However she was just finishing a major kitchen renovation so the house was pretty torn up.  Notice I am still wearing my teal airplane eye patch--I was so jet lagged I forgot to take it off

The next day we joined my parents at a big community service project

My sis and my dad

The kitchen is almost done (floor still taped up!)

My bro Brian came down from Nevada, and Heather came down from Utah and I came from KL all to see our youngest brother Nathan off on a two year church mission to CHILE!  Wahoo Nathan have fun in Chile for two years!

That Sunday we had a big party to send Nathan off.  Clockwise from left: Jeff, Grandma Marion, Joseph, Leah, Scott, and Brian

Yey the siblings are together at last (well since Christmas) and so happy.  You can tell how tall my little brothers and sister are when you compare them to me

We are such goofballs--I love it

Sitting on the porch enjoying the gorgeous CA weather: Grandpa Steve, Grandma Marion, Christian my BFF cousin, and me wearing my Malaysian Indian Punjabi suit

I love cooking with my mom -- she is so healthy and I have learned so much from her

Brian, Joseph and I

Joseph LOVED Brian's banjo (and also Nathan's acoustic and electric guitars)

There's always a song going on -- Joseph was in heaven

He also was in heaven sweeping the floor -- he kept finding places and said they were "soo dirty" so he could sweep them

Heather and Brian wrote this awesome song a few years ago and sing it all the time, this time the whole family joined in  -- the lyrics go "you put a rainbow in my heart, in my heart, in my heart; I want a pop tart in my art, in my art, in my art"  -- it is hilarious because you know my silly family is so artistic

Here we are making playdough dinosaurs and reading the dinosaur book -- Joseph is doing the dinosaur face

Big hugs for Nathan

Isn't he so cute -- I think all the girls in Chile are going to go nuts

Another of Joseph's favorite appliances -- as long as it is not plugged in

Visit with G&G Robinson to the LA temple

And dinner afterwards on Pico

AFTER CA, we headed to Utah so surprise Mike's family...
Uncle Luke picked us up from the airport and we went in to surprise Grandma Marianne (we walked in through the garage which is why you see the skis

Surprise!

Grandpa Joe, Kate, and Luke

So much fun to be with our Feathie family

Joseph now calls Grandma Marianne "Grammianne"

To keep our arrival a surprise, Luke made up this awesome story about how he had to go to work on a Saturday because someone needed help moving offices...he even got dressed for work and everything.  Kudos to Lukie, the family totally bought it even though he was so worried he wasn't a good liar -- thanks Lukie

Joseph was in Heaven because they had a whole fridge stocked with Costco STRAWBERRIES and blueberries.  Really I think that's all he ate for a whole day.  He never gets them in KL because they are so expensive so this was such a treat.

And of course, a favorite place in Grammianne's house is the pantry

Thanks everyone for making our trip such a fabulous one!  And sorry to all the friends we weren't able to see since it was such a quick trip.  We'll be back soon we promise

Love to all

Hi there

I am sitting in bed trying out using blog press for the first time. Here are some random adds from my photo library.

I guess the boys figured out some app because I found this curious George montage over Josephs photo.

See I told you I am sitting in bed!

- Now I M actually going to go to bed, so I can wake up early and call my BFF Shannon to wish her happy birthday!

Jofess and Tiger

Joseph and Tiger are BFFs here in Malaysia.  Tiger is a bit older than him and lives across the street from us.  Tiger & Joseph play together when Tiger comes over every Monday morning for Chinese tutoring, and every Sunday they play at church nursery together.  They love hanging out together and it is fun to see them play.

Andrew's New School

Andrew started preschool at a montessori school nearby.  This was very exciting as he is with all the neurotypical kids!  He is doing so well.  We have our issues, but overall he is doing well.
They have all these cute fine motor and practical life stations.

Andrew puts his shoes in his red bag and hangs it on the shelf.

This house is just a shot of the neighborhood -- I thought it adds some flavor so you can see what his school's street looks like
Good job Andrew.  I am proud at how hard you are working.

Kids day out

Our good friend SID (Mike's classmate at Univ of Chicago MBA)  lives a street away.  We are so lucky when he invites us over to come play...here are some shots he took of us at his playground and pool.  I pulled these off of the album he posted on facebook.

The below shots Sid took are from playing at the playground before the pool (they got out of order when I posted the pics here but I don't want to take the time to reorder everything).

Yey fun play day!  Thanks Sid.
